Ibuprophen has a reputation of slowing down healing. I no longer take it. I take turmeric and boswellia for pain, which works better and has no side effects once you are used to them. They take some time to start working at first, but for chronic pain, they work very well in the long run.

Criticism and painkillers? Perhaps Winston Churchill's words of 1939:
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body; it calls attention to the development of an unhealthy state of things. If it is heeded in time, danger may be averted; if it is suppressed, a fatal distemper may develop.

it doesn't shock me but I don't think trying it one time will hurt. I am no kinda pill popper but sometimes we are willing to try something for some relief. I'm trying this guys thanks because I rather have it instead of drugs from a doctor.

I have ankylosing spondylosis and take painkillers ever day of my life. For the self righteous people who condemn me for taking painkillers all I can say is they have never experienced true pain.

Bob and Brad here is another option it seems most are not aware of. That being topical ibuprofen rather than pill form. I first stumbled on to it when I was cycling in France. I wandered into a pharmacy in Albertville, France and asked the pharmacist for ibuprofen for my sore knee. She handed me a tube that I thought was toothpaste at first. Upon questioning her she explained that indeed it was topical ibuprofen (comes in gel or cream) and can be bought over the counter in Europe and many countries. And was much better than pill form for my type of issue as it can be applied directly to the site and doesn't create any issues with gastro system and less stress on kidneys and liver as it passes though your system. For the issue I was having it was extremely effective. Two applications that day relieved the soreness and inflamation I had been dealing with for a week.
Unfortunately in the U.S. it is available only by prescription but can be obtained. However if you have anyone traveling to Europe or Canada they can easily walk into a pharmacy and pick you up a tube or two.
I've found it to be much more effective than pill form for many types of sports related injuries or pain.

@george johnson me:"look at all of the credible research" you:"look at this movie by a notorious con man all of which's and whom's assertions contained therein have been totally discredited". I assume you'll refer me to the wise medicine woman Jenny McCarthy next? I also suggest you learn what "troll" means, and no, I don't work for an evil drug company, but if you need to believe that everyone who applies some logic to their process of critical thinking is in the pocket of the monsanto-pfizer shadow conglomerate run by the rothschilds and the reptiles then by all means

    • Luke Brown
      Luke Brown 2 lat temu

@george johnson check out the staggering body of research for actual scientific facts, not lies based on a single lying doctor whose 'research' has been repeatedly and consistently disproven and whose experiments were conducted amid several conflicts of interest which resulted in handsome profits for himself (Andrew Wakefield, the source of the modern anti-vaccination movement). You wanna talk about vaccines? Smallpox killed as many as 500,000,000 people between 1900 and 1977. that's more than twice as many as died in every war, famine, and genocide in the entire 20th century. if you average it, Smallpox killed a person every 5 seconds. it's gone now, thanks to vaccines, so even if nearly every doctor and scientist with any credibility is wrong about vaccines autism is a small price to pay for the systematic eradication of the infectious diseases that previously dominated human cause of death

    • Luke Brown
      Luke Brown 2 lat temu

@george johnson life expectancy fell marginally in the US but it is nothing more than a blip on a steeply upward curved line, the rise in autism is due to improved detection, and autoimmune disorders have hugely varying causes and nondistinct symptoms they're hardly one and the same, and much of their increasing incidence can also be attributed to improved diagnosis. please, if you could, define the word "toxin" scientifically without searching for it. let's see if you did your research

This might shock some people, but I think that pain in the acute phase is a good thing. Of course I am not talking about chronic pain, which is really a different subject IMO. But, acute pain is part of the body's natural response of dealing with the injury. The pain causes us to rest and protects us from further injury. The inflammation in the acute phase brings about the physiological healing processes. I know bone of us want to slow down and miss anything, but it's probably the best cure. Besides if we mask the pain with high levels of pain meds and then go right back out there and do activities that cause the pain, aren't we just like the diabetic who says I'm going to eat whatever I want and just take more insulin?

I suffer from severe pain daily. Mainly because I can't afford to get my teeth fixed. I am losing one to two teeth a year. My financial situation will not allow me to afford to get them extracted, nor does it allow me to get them fixed.. I would happily live with acute pain if I didn't have to suffer from the neuralgia pain felt when a nerve is dying in my mouth.

ibuprofen is the generic and active ingredient of Advil. Aleve is generally used for inflammation pain and arthritis (long term use). Advil a good temporary pain/fever/inflammation reliever. I recommend you call your Pharmacist for a better break down.
