I find if I go into a form of meditation and concentrate on the pain and the area it is in, I can reduce the pain. It's hard to explain but I try to imagine the pain, like the images in this video, and imagine calming them down and letting them float away, and it does seem to ease the pain yo some degree! Also I am often in pain as I have Fibromyalgia!

But why did our body’s have to evolve to feel unbearable pain...

    • SilverlonewolfX

Pain levels tell you how damaged you are. Lets say you get pricked on a finger for a drop of blood to do a test. It'll stings, but because it is so small your body can soon recover from it real soon. While something like a scraped knee, bruising, sprains, or broken bones, hurts much longer. If you move or touch it, it will hurt. It's your body's way of saying. "DO NOT DO THAT! IT'S DAMAGING!" As you heal over time the pain becomes less and less, because that area becomes stronger as it heals.
Unbearable pain is your body saying. "Something is extremely wrong!" It is crippling and can limit your movements. Most of the time if forces you to stay still to sit or lay down and most of the time this is okay to do. As long the cells are getting damaged like walking on a torn ankle or knee joint, they will continue to send chemical signals to the pain receptors. When you rest, the pain will lessen allowing the cells to heal. That is were sleep comes in.
Sleeping accelerates healing. Our bodies do most of our healing when we are asleep. It is as if sleep and pain go hand in hand, but I am not a biologist or a scientist. I know this, when pain becomes unbearable, limit your movements as much as possible. Especially if it's massive damage muscle, joint, and organ and seek a doctor right away. Then get plenty of rest.
Mortal wounds from example, an accident, a gunshot, or knife require you to fight through the pain to increase your chances of staying alive longer. Such as trying to keep awake, while the shock of pain could force you to pass out. Press on the wound even though it hurts to slow down the bleeding. Then there is moving if you can, and making noise like yelling to seek emergency medical attention. Walk, but do not run to preserve precious stamina. Once someone medically professional comes to your aid, listen to them to further increase your chances to stay alive.
Conclusion; If the pain is unbearable seek medical attention, limit your movement and get plenty of rest. It's your body telling you something is severely wrong. Your cells in the hundred thousands to millions are likely damaged and need time to replenish and orient themselves. If you have a life threatening wound, try to fight through the pain until you can seek proper medical attention.

Pain relievers are medicines that reduce or relieve headaches, sore muscles, arthritis, or other aches and pains. There are many different pain medicines, and each one has advantages and risks.
    Check Pain Relief Medications
Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are good for many types of pain. There are two main types of OTC pain medicines: acetaminophen (Tylenol) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Aspirin, naproxen (Aleve), and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) are examples of OTC NSAIDs.
If OTC medicines don't relieve your pain, your doctor may prescribe something stronger. Many NSAIDs are also available at higher prescription doses. You must use them only under a doctor's supervision.
There are many things you can do to help ease pain. Pain relievers are just one part of a pain treatment plan.
